Onechildhood Programs
Onechildhood accepts scholarship applications for a wide variety of athletic and artistic activities. Every child has a passion, a dream. Onechildhood's provides children in single-parent homes with scholarships that allow them to achieve their dreams—one child at a time.
Athletics and Arts Program
Onechildhood's Athletics and Arts Program will provide opportunities for children to participate in a sport of their choice whether it is basketball, golf, soccer or swimming. Children benefit physically as well as psychologically from participating in a team sport that they enjoy.
The benefits and rewards gained with setting goals and following through on a sports team are astronomical. Some of the benefits gained are learning about teamwork and commitment to gaining self esteem and confidence.
Onechildhood will also provide opportunities in the area of art, music and dance. A creative mind is an active mind! With this program children will gain a greater understanding and appreciation for the world of art, music, and dance.
Some of the many benefits that a child can get through the study of art are: self esteem, self expression, creativity and the motivation to learn. Involvement in the creative process has shown that it can also help a child to blossom and become even more productive, giving the opportunity for many doors to open for a child.
Hockey Program
You race for the puck, pushing hard to find that extra burst of speed. You feel the puck on your stick and take the shot—no time to stop and think. For a brief moment the world slows down as you watch the puck sail endlessly towards the net. Will you be the hero? Or, is this the goalie's moment to shine?
Ice hockey is one of the most exciting, fast-paced and rewarding sports a child can play. Life lessons learned through hockey can have an immeasurable impact in a child's future. Hockey requires dedication and commitment—skills children need to achieve their dreams. The sense of belonging that comes with being part of a hockey team builds confidence that lasts a lifetime. And, most importantly, it's fun!
Unfortunately, ice hockey is also one of the most expensive sports a child can play. Equipment costs and the high price of ice time can put this sport out of reach for many single parent families. That's where Onechildhood's Hockey Program can help. Onechildhood is committed to making hockey more accessible by providing scholarship assistance and special hockey development programs to children in single parent homes.
Sled Hockey Program
The anticipation builds as you watch the zamboni make its final lap. You see excitement on the faces of your teammates. The door opens and you glide out onto a fresh sheet of ice. You've put in the work, trained hard. Now it's time to play.
Many physically and mentally disabled children dream of the opportunity to participate in hockey, to experience the excitement of the game for themselves. For these children, sled hockey provides the opportunity to overcome their disabilities and achieve that dream. Onechildhood believes that hockey is for everyone. Whether on skates or a sled, the thrill and intensity of hockey is the same. And so are the benefits. Onechildhood's Sled Hockey Program allows disabled children to experience the game firsthand.
Onechildhood is dedicated to providing physically and mentally disabled children the chance to play hockey. We are proud to partner with USA Hockey to organize the first sled hockey program in the State of Georgia. In addition to organizing teams and clinics for disabled athletes, Onechildhood's Sled Hockey Program provides coaching and mentoring to help make dreams come true, both on and off the ice.
